MÜDEK HISTORY OF OUR CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Gazi University Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering is one of the first departments that started quality improvement and accreditation studies in education in 2002 and has been involved in these studies for 20 years, perhaps acting in line with this purpose. Our department, which made its first application to the accreditation studies carried out by the Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MÜDEK) in 2004 and was later awarded the right to be accredited, is a department that believes in the importance of improving quality in education and aims to improve itself in line with a sustainable quality approach. Gazi University Faculty of Engineering Civil Engineering Department was among the first Civil Engineering Departments in Turkey to be entitled to be accredited after its first accreditation application in 2004, and it has continued to receive accreditation every 5-year period by continuing its accreditation studies for a total of 15 years, 3 times in total. Perhaps the first of the most important indicator and proof that our department, which has been working on accreditation and improving the quality of education for 20 years, has been accustomed to the awareness and approach of continuous improvement, is that it continues to receive accreditation in this long process. The 30% English Program of Civil Engineering made its last application to MÜDEK in 2019 and was entitled to be accredited for 5 years, valid between September 2021 and September 2026, in June 2021. The 100% English Program of Civil Engineering was entitled to be accredited for 2 years, valid between May 2023 and September 2025.
